At least 50 people were killed and another 53 were injured when a man armed with a handgun and an assault rifle entered the club and opened fire on attendees. Comments from this mans family and those close to him report that he was extremely hateful, homophobic, and abusive. His father stated that only months ago, his son saw two men kissing, and became extremely upset and enraged, so it’s quite clear that his actions were a hate crime against the LGBTQ community.
