The Great British Bake Off is back for tonight's Christmas special there will be no shortage of butter, sugar, and laughter, as well as a few handshakes if things go well.

Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are judging, with Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas hosting the cast of the award-winning Channel 4 drama It's a Sin.

Leading actors Olly Alexander, Nathaniel Curtis, Lydia West and Shaun Dooley will compete for the Christmas Star Baker title, while there's also a gospel choir performance to see out the show.

Shaun Dooley might be well known for his narrations, which include SAS Who Dares Wins , as well as plenty of TV dramas like Broadchurch and comedy Misfits .

But he actually started out acting in soaps, for example as Ritchie Fitzgerald in Coronation Street and as Tom Stuart in EastEnders from 2001 until 2004.

He's also had guest roles in Holby City, Casualty, Silent Witness , and New Tricks , according to the BBC.

In Corrie , his character Ritchie was the jealous estranged husband of Samantha Failsworth, played by Tina Hobley.

Their marriage lasted just two days, by which time Samantha had realised she'd made a big mistake.

Ritchie turned up in Weatherfield when he had found out Samantha's address.

Although he pleaded with her to take him back, she settled for Des Barnes.

Ritchie later terrorised the pair by breaking the windows of Des's car and house with bricks.

In EastEnders, his character Tom was the vicar who conducted the wedding ceremony of Dot (June Brown) and Jim Branning (John Bardon) on Valentine's Day 2002.

His vicar duties also included conducting Jamie Mitchell's (Jack Ryder) funeral and performing Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and Andy Hunter's (Michael Higgs) wedding ceremony that was crashed by Alfie Moon (Shane Richie).

Shaun has been with his wife Polly Dooley since 1998 and they have four children together, while the TV star also has two sisters Kimberly Dooley and Stephanie Ann Dooley.

It seems acting runs in the family because sister Stephanie is also an actress and portrayed Zara Baynard in Emmerdale.

Shaun has no relation to TV presenter Stacey Dooley, though some might think so.
