This is a match made in television heaven! Piper Chapman and Tyrion Lannister, better known as Taylor Schilling and Peter Dinklage, will co-star in the Classic Stage Company revival of Ivan Turgenev’s “A Month in the Country.”

This dream mash-up casting includes the providers of two of television’s most dynamic, impressive performances. Dinklage has won both a Golden Globe and a 2011 Emmy for his Game of Thrones performance, and was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Emmy every year since. Schilling burst onto the scene last year with her starring role on Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, resulting in lead actress Golden Globe and Emmy nods this year.

Both actors have famously been playing jailbirds, as Piper Chapman’s life is in a women’s prison in Connecticut and Tyrion Lannister was imprisoned by his own family for the majority of last season. “A Month in the Country” is about a young country wife named Natalya (Schilling) who becomes interested in her young son’s tutor, much to the chagrin of her good friend Rakitin (Dinklage), who is smitten with her. The setting for the story is a Russian country estate in the 1840s.

The production will mark Schilling’s NYC stage debut of Schilling and Dinklage’s first theater performance since 2007, when he appeared in the play Things We Want, directed by Ethan Hawke. Another one of Dinklage’s theater credits includes the title role in “Richard III” at the Public Theater in 2004. The new Classic Stage Company production will actually be helmed by Dinklage’s wife, theater director Erica Schmidt (Humor Abuse). The play is part of an already starry CSC 2014/15 season that also includes Chris Noth in Doctor Faustus and Peter Sarsgaard in Hamlet.

If you want the best chance to see these acclaimed television stars in action, the sooner the better. A Month in the Country begins previews at NYC’s Classic Stage Company on Jan. 9, 2015, with a limited engagement through February 15.
