One Direction Respond To Fans Supporting Important Issues

It is no secret that the One Direction fan base is very dedicated when it comes to their idols. It is no secret that the One Direction fan base is very dedicated when it comes to their idols. They’ve proved time after time that they’re loyal to the band by buying their music and selling out stadium tours. However, it’s another kind of support that has come to the One Direction boys attention lately.

Back in July, the lads from One Direction launched the ‘Action/1D’ campaign for Save the Children, which aimed to end extreme poverty, tackle inequality and slow down climate change with the help of their fans. In a recent interview with Radio Eska, the boys voiced how amazed they were by their fans and their support for the great cause.

Niall Horan told Radio Eska: “We just wanted to get them involved because I don’t think they realise how powerful they actually are and how powerful social media is…They smashed it. They came up with some great ideas; the whole video that we put together with all of them involved was insane.”

In the video that Horan mentioned, One Direction asked their fans to describe the kind of world they wanted to live in by sharing powerful pieces of creative content, including videos and photos, using the hashtag #Action1D.

Harry Styles later added in the interview that “everyone knows that they’re very dedicated on social media and go to shows and stuff like that, but it’s cool to see when you bring up really important issues, to see how people react to that. They come in and obviously show how much they care and show how much they wanna make a difference.”

This isn’t the first time that the One Direction fans have showed their support for a great cause. A group of One Direction fans created 1D Fans Give in 2013. Since then they have raised over $138.000 for various charities such as Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Believe in Magic, The British Asian Trust and London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard.

The members of One Direction have also proved to have big hearts. Back in August, Louis Tomlinson hosted a Cinderella ball for terminally ill children at Natural History Museum. Tomlinson hosted the ball to raise money for Believe in Magic. Tomlinson and bandmate Liam Payne donated over £5 Million in total.
