Jon David Gruden, an American football coach, was born on August 17, 1963. He worked as an assistant coach in college and the NFL for twelve years until taking over as head coach of the Oakland Raiders in 1998. He served in that capacity until 2001.
From 2002 through 2008, he was moved from Oakland to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he guided them to their first Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XXXVII.
