The Dallas Cowboys have been blazing past their opponents all season long. With a record of 10-4, they are at the top of the NFC East division and have already secured a playoff spot. So, maybe this is what the 81-year-old owner of the Cowboys, Jerry Jones, was thinking about when he congratulated the staff after the loss. But longtime fan Skip Bayless doesn’t seem pleased.

Bayless is 71 himself and has been supporting the Cowboys since his childhood. No doubt the shock defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills, 33-10, would have been disappointing for him. But the comments by the owner seem puzzling to the longtime football analyst.

Skip Bayless wonders about the praise from Jerry Jones

The Cowboys were playing at Highmark Stadium last week, where they suffered their fourth defeat of the season. The defense was especially leaky, as the Bills kept scoring on will throughout both halves. However, the owner, Jones, went to the HC, Mike McCarthy, and his staff.

Wait, Jerry Jones complimented and congratulated his coaching staff for Sunday’s Loss at Buffalo??? Now on @Undisputed

“You got us in this spot to be as disappointed as we are about the Buffalo deal and our loss there,” Jones said to the staff. He further congratulated the staff members by saying, “It’s your fault because y’all have done such a great job this year getting our team to where we, our fans, and everybody have the expectations that we have.”

Jones surely has a unique way to pick up the morale of his troops. Though Bayless does not seem to like the candidness of his approach, he will agree with the mindset. After all, ‘America’s team’ is bound for the playoffs in a long time.

The Dallas Cowboys have wrangled a spot for themselves

Recent years haven’t been kind to the Cowboys fans, including Skip Bayless. The team won the Super Bowl last year in 1995 and hasn’t been able to reach the NFC Championship since then. This year, despite the recent loss to the Bills, the Cowboys look strong.

After defeating the Eagles in their Week 14 rematch, they avenged the loss from Week 9. Leveling the series against last year’s Super Bowl playing team must have been not only enriching but confidence-gaining as well. The Cowboys will next take on another offensive powerhouse team, the Miami Dolphins, this Sunday.

Do you think Jerry Jones’ tactic will work? Or is Skip Bayless correct in worrying about the Cowboys’ defense? Let us know in the comments.
